Exporting once a quarter is cheap insurance. Store the archives somewhere you control, like a NAS or an encrypted backup.

Apple Health (Apple Watch)

Apple keeps health data in HealthKit on your iPhone. Apple’s guide to sharing your health data covers exporting all health data as an archive from the Health app (profile → Export All Health Data). The archive contains XML you can parse.

Samsung Health (Galaxy Watch / Ring)

Sync Samsung Health to Samsung Cloud first, then request a data download from the Samsung privacy portal and choose Samsung Health. The download arrives as an encrypted archive of CSV files.

Google / Fitbit / Pixel Watch

Use Google Takeout and select Fitbit. With the legacy API turning off on Oct 30, 2026, Takeout is the dependable route.

Oura

Oura offers data access through its API v2 for apps you authorise, and data export from your Oura account. Note that full access depends on an active membership.

COROS

COROS Training Hub can bulk-export activities as FIT or TCX by email.

Garmin

Garmin activities are standard FIT files stored on the watch. Many models mount over USB so you can copy them directly. Gadgetbridge can also sync many Garmin models locally.

Make it a habit

Set a calendar reminder for quarterly exports, and keep at least two copies (see our sister site’s 3-2-1 backup guide).
